I am in pain, frustrated, and hurt. Things I wish to happen are struggling despite their good that would result. People I admire and love have been hurt and are in tough places at the moment.

I have been in pain, frustrated, and hurt. Things I wish to happen are struggling despite their good that would result. People I admire and love have been hurt and are in tough places at the moment.

Yet I remain optimistic and seek out the positive in every moment. Why — I must.

My why for being positive

I see no alternative to being positive when I consider the preciousness of my own life. My attitude and as a result my behavior are the single most important thing that can turn around the negatives that emerge in my life. This gives me hope and put in my control the ability to impact my situation, my health, and my relationships. Knowing that we are in control and can move forward is a powerful insight.

Alternatively, I could wallow in the pain I feel in my body, my heart, and that doubt that we all have in our inner voices. I could soak myself in the pity and stay in that pain. There is always a place for grieving and reflection, but to allow ourselves to remain in these dark times and places is a waste of life. Nothing changes when we focus on the bad, but does when you see there is something you can do!

Yet I remain optimistic and seek out the positive in every moment. Why — I must.

My why for being positive

I see no alternative to being positive when I consider the preciousness of my own life. My attitude and behavior impact me, my health, my relationships, and are the only thing that can turn around the negatives in my life.

Literally I could wallow in the pain I feel in my body, my heart, and that doubt that we all have in our inner voices. I could soak myself in the pity and stay in that pain. It has only one benefit in time — we know no different.

Instead, I work hard to discover the positive and the possible. These discoveries may not change the pain but it will certainly make it magnitudes better by:

  • making me open to help as I will attract people vs repel them
  • help me heal as I begin to embrace a behavior of persistent action
  • it just feels better

I choose to reduce the negative and lean in on the positive. I choose so, because life is unique and our own to live.

My why is beyond me

You inspire people — friends, loved ones, and strangers on the street. You may not realize it in the moment, but your actions do have the power to create meaningful change. What kind of change you spark —is solely dependent on your mindset and perspective. Optimism or negativity is a choice, and it influences those beyond us.

For me, I have the following reasons to persevere in the darkest pain and moments:

  • My daughter, I must show her that when life goes wrong we must continue to work hard and be nice
  • My teams, we all have ‘hard things’ in life and we can still do great things together, by focusing our energy no what we can control
  • My clients, I need to be 100% for them. I am there to serve them
  • One life, I have seen enough regret, death, and loss to appreciate the gift of life and breath

When we meet

When you and I meet, let us promise to be vulnerable enough to welcome help and assistance to each other. May we seek to give compliments, strength, and value in a way that matters in that moment. Only then can the chance encounter be given a chance to truly inspire and transform a life.

Don’t complain, focus on what you can change, and take action. For thoughts are individually selfishly entertaining, but your efforts and their results are something you share with the world.

As always, I wish you nothing but strength and happiness.
